Sail training in Hungary

The Sail and Life Training Association Hungary  (S.A.L.T. Hungary) is a nonprofit organization, has the same legal status as charities int he UK. This organization is the representative of Tall Ships and the lifestyle of the sail training in Hungary. Our aim is Hungarian youth to be involved the sail training programs and the circuit of the Tall Ships events – not depending their social or other conditions.

We intend to popularize the sail trainings and Tall Ships programs in Hungary, sending our youth to the different Tall Ships, while we plan to organize own sail training programs. The participation of young Hungarians between 15 and 25 years is highlighted, we provide international and national bursaries for them. Our programs help the secondary school and university students to get practical experiences during their life-changing periods. Also, we strongly support the young patients who have had serious cancer and patients recovering or recovered from other serious illness to be successfully returned the normal life. We organize team-building sail trainings for schools, universities, company teams, etc. to improve their communication abilities, can handle conflicts and be able to effectively work together.

It must be emphasized that all sail training programs are for everyone over 25 years, as well. We are kindly waiting for those who are elder, though they feel themselves young in their heart! It’s a pity we can not provide financial support at this time…

S.A.L.T. Hungary represents Hungary among the national sail training organizations (NSTO’s), probationary member of the Sail Training International (STI) and has representative in International Council of STI.

Our long-run program: Hungarian tall ship

S.A.L.T. Hungary has set a long-run goal of creating the Hungarian A-class training ship, a 145’ topsail schooner. The operable model of this tall ship exists (although under regeneration and maintenance now). Our first step achieving our goal: collect the necessary financial funds. Therefore we already launched our “1 euro program”.
